Long-Term Drug Rehab: Comprehensive Treatment Programs for Lasting Sobriety in California

Individuals diagnosed with substance use disorder (SUD) and dual diagnosis may benefit from long-term drug rehab programs. The extended length of stay creates a solid foundation for a sober future, ensuring clients and their loved ones feel prepared for the transition into aftercare. New Found Life encourages clients to take advantage of our long-term programs to improve treatment outcomes and reduce the risk of relapse.

What Is Long-Term Drug Rehab?

Long-term rehabilitation programs extend beyond the typical 30-day residential or outpatient program and last several months. They give clients time to build necessary life skills and create a routine to support sobriety. New Found Life offers clients the opportunity to participate in treatment programs for however long it takes them to feel confident in their ability to maintain sobriety. Long-term rehab programs can last up to six months.

The Impact of Addiction on Health and Lifestyle

Addiction reduces quality of life and interferes with all aspects of a person’s life, including their health, career, and relationships. According to the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP), “More than 20 million people in the United States have a substance use disorder.” Early intervention and treatment provide the best outcomes by addressing addictive behaviors before they cause permanent or long-term health issues.

Detoxification and Withdrawal Management

New Found Life does not offer detox services. However, we can refer clients to high-quality, comprehensive detox services in the Los Angeles area. Our clinical team ensures clients have access to essential support services to help them navigate detox before transitioning to treatment programs at New Found Life. We coordinate safe detox services for clients participating in residential or outpatient care.

Addressing Opioid and Prescription Drug Addiction

We treat opioid use disorder (OUD) and prescription drug addiction using short-term medication-assisted treatment (MAT), psychotherapy, peer support, the 12-Step philosophy, and additional support services. Family engagement in treatment often plays a vital role in recovery for clients with OUD and addictions related to prescription medications. Addiction recovery experts at New Found Life use family therapy and other services to help clients repair their relationships and create a nurturing home environment.

The Role of Therapy in Long-Term Drug Rehab

Individual and group therapy is essential to the recovery process for many individuals in long-term drug rehab. Some of the evidence-based and holistic therapeutic modalities we offer at New Found Life include:

We use individual and group therapy sessions to provide clients with the tools and education they need to heal from the effects of substance abuse and develop healthier relationships. New Found Life teaches clients to build independent recovery skills that support a sober lifestyle.

Levels of Care in Long-Term Drug Rehab

Individuals and families experiencing SUD benefit from treatment plans integrating multiple levels of care over a prolonged period of time. The gradual increase in independence allows clients to build their skills without causing them to feel overwhelmed by daily stressors.

Fellowship and community support are integral in long-term rehabilitation programs at New Found Life. Clients and their families can rely on the support of peers and addiction recovery specialists to help them navigate the various levels of treatment.

Residential Care: A Therapeutic Community for Healing

Long-term residential care incorporates the 12-Step philosophy into comprehensive, tailored treatments and services. Clients benefit from participating in individual and group therapy, support groups, community activities, and other support services that prepare them for outpatient care and ongoing sobriety. We offer long-term residential care for individuals who may benefit from additional structure and accountability. New Found Life collaborates closely with clients and their loved ones to create treatment plans addressing the unique needs and preferences of individuals in recovery.

Outpatient Services and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP)

Clients often start treatment in residential programs and then transition to long-term outpatient services or partial hospitalization programs. The added flexibility allows clients to practice skills they learn in therapy and build support networks in the real world while engaging with peers through work, volunteer opportunities, or community activities. All levels of care offer gender-specific programs and treatment services

Aftercare Support for Ongoing Care

Clients are a part of our ever-growing New Found Life family, and we encourage alumni to reach out for additional support or guidance as they navigate long-term sobriety. We offer aftercare and ongoing support services to clients transitioning from structured treatment. Our family support group meetings and other services are also available to alumni families.

Tailored Treatment Programs

New Found Life’s tailored treatment programs give clients access to essential support resources. Our long-term programs focus on integrating clients into the community, strengthening relationships, and developing healthy coping skills for relapse prevention.

We have spent over 30 years building a recovery community where clients and families develop life skills for long-term sobriety. Everyone joining our New Found Life family is treated with respect, dignity, and compassion.

The Role of Family in Recovery: An Intensive Family Program

We offer various family-focused services and programs to facilitate family engagement in the recovery process. Some of the services we provide include:

  • Intensive family program
  • Zoom family support group
  • Psychoeducation to help families understand addiction
  • Rebuilding relationships through skill development
  • Addressing family dynamics and addiction
  • A “family recovery blueprint” that guides families through the healing process
  • Spiritual support and guidance for families in recovery

Clients and their families continue to have access to our support services. The family Zoom support group meets on Wednesdays and is open to all families of alumni and current clients.

Relapse Prevention Strategies

We prepare clients and their families for long-term sobriety by assisting them in building skills and creating relapse prevention strategies that do the following:

  • Identify and manage relapse risks
  • Improve coping mechanisms
  • Increase stress management

We educate clients and their families on the realities of addiction and recovery, including the potential for relapse and how to reduce the risks.

Growing Responsibilities, Growing Recovery

As participants advance in the Extended Care phase, clients are empowered to assume greater responsibilities. These include recovery commitments, academic or job requirements. Residents are rewarded for proactive behaviors, mirroring real-world rewards for positive actions and they’re encouraged to keep moving in this positive direction so it is second nature by the time they leave our care.

Long-Term Drug Rehab and The New Found Life Difference

New Found Life is a community that feels like a home. Everyone is welcomed and treated like family. The 12-Step philosophy taught in every program emphasizes the importance of building a solid support network and developing practical life skills. Our thriving sober community gives clients and their loved ones a safe space to heal and uplift one another.

Long-term rehab programs provide clients with a safe, structured environment for healing and personal growth. Most individuals with substance use disorder have gone through multiple short-term programs without successfully maintaining sobriety. A long-term rehab program provides the additional structure, skill development, and accountability many people need to establish and maintain healthy behaviors and routines. New Found Life’s focus on the 12-Step philosophy encourages clients to use the time in treatment to prepare for ongoing sobriety by building essential life skills and creating a strong support network. Clients and their loved ones benefit from the additional time provided by long-term rehabilitation programs.
