Nathan
E. Lavid, M.D. is a clinical and forensic psychiatrist in private practice in
Southern California. Dr. Lavid works with our clients in areas of addiction,
mood disorders and eating disorders.
He received his bachelor of arts in microbiology and subsequently his
medical degree from the University of Kansas. He completed his internship and
psychiatric residency at the University of California, Irvine. He is a former
faculty member at the University of Southern California School of Medicine,
where he completed a forensic psychiatry fellowship at the Institute of
Psychiatry and Law. Dr.
Lavid serves children, adolescents, and adults in the Long Beach, California
area and also testifies as an expert witness psychiatrist.

Greg
Corbin’s career in the mental health field has spanned over 24 years working
with adults, adolescents and families in the field of substance abuse.
As a therapist at New Found Life, Greg works closely with individuals who
struggle with emotional, relational, chemical dependency and trauma issues that
grow out of experiencing abuse, neglect, physical illness and abandonment.
Greg has a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science and a Master of Arts in
Counseling Psychology, both from National University and is a licensed Marriage
and Family Therapist.
Greg also works as a health care administrator, has a private
psychotherapy and counseling practice in Long Beach and also specializes in
healthcare accreditation management and consulting.

Suzanne Barron is a licensed marriage
and family therapist with a Master of Science in Counseling. Suzanne has
worked as the director of an outpatient substance abuse facility as well
as the director of a residential program for eating disorders. Her
specializations include addictions, eating disorders, trauma, grief, and
mood disorders. |
Susan Walshe, MS, MFT Intern

Susan Walshe has a Master of Science degree in Marriage, Family Therapy
from the University of LaVerne and is a registered Intern with the Board
of Behavioral Sciences. She has specialized training in substance abuse,
violence and abuse in family systems, crisis intervention, dual
diagnosis, psychopharmacology, couples, families and groups.

Bill Woodbury has worked in the field of chemical dependency for more
than 16 years. He has worked as an Intake Coordinator, Outreach
Coordinator and Treatment Coordinator at treatment facilities in
Southern California. He was a counselor and resource center coordinator
at the Peninsula Recovery Center in San Pedro. While there, he opened an
Outpatient Center, developed educational lectures for the community and
implemented a standard training course for counselors.

Kelly Buchwaldt is a Certified Drug and
Alcohol Counselor who has been active in recovery programs for over seven
years. Kelly obtained her education from California State Dominguez Hills
and her counseling certificate from California Paramedical and Technical
College where she graduated in the top of her class. She has certified
training and experience in Anger Management and P.T.S.D. |
Lisa McKinnis, CDAC

Lisa McKinnis has been working in
recovery since 2000. She is a counselor and Operations Manager for the
women’s facility. Lisa received her Chemical Dependency Counseling
Certificate from the Advanced Training Institute in Woodland Hills, CA
and is a member of the California Association of Alcoholism and Drug
Abuse Counselors. She also has had training and experience in Anger
Management and Eating Disorders. Lisa facilitates and monitors the Body,
Mind and Spirit Groups at New Found Life.

Linda Pena, CDAC

Linda Pena is an Educator at the Health
Resource Center at California State University Long Beach working with
Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Programs (ATOD) on campus. She is editor
of The Journal of the Health Resource Center at the university. A
Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, she has been active in recovery
programs for over twenty-seven years. Linda joined our staff in 2004 as
an educator and counselor after completing her internship at New Found
Life. She obtained her counseling certificate from UCLA.

Mark
Lingle

Mark
Lingle trains all staff and residents at New Found Life in fire and earthquake
safety and conducts our facility safety inspections.
He has been a paramedic since 1986 and a firefighter since 1988.
After three years with the City of Alhambra Fire Department in Los
Angeles County, Mark was promoted to Engineer, and remained Engineer for nine
years before being promoted to Captain.
He is certified through the State of California’s Fire Marshall’s
Office as a Fire Officer as well as Instructor.
He also maintains his Fire Prevention Certification.
Mark divides his time as a Captain at the Alhambra Fire Department and as
an instructor with the local Fire Academy as well as various Fire Departments in
Southern California.

Penelope
Richards was given the Sanskrit name Prabha, meaning “the light of true
knowledge, radiance, “ by the Reverand Sri Swami Satchidananda or the Integral
Yoga Institute in Manhattan upon her certification as a Hatha yoga instructor in
1997.
With more than 30 years of training and experience in dance and more than
20 in the study of yoga, Penelope has developed a special awareness of the
physical body and spirit.
And her personal fight with cancer has deepened her understanding of the
transformational healing gifts that yoga can bring to the individuals body, mind
and spirit in which she offers to NFL residents on a weekly basis.
